The New England AWI Chapter is hosting a lean manufacturing seminar presented by Conn Step, a leader in the exiting new field of lean manufacturing. Conn Step will demonstrate the basic steps and tools used to begin a lean journey. There will be a "hands on" approach to understanding lean.

Lean Awareness Workshop with Factory Simulation

Lean establishes a systematic approach to eliminating wastes and creating flow throughout the whole company. It also helps you develop and implement a long-term plan to streamline your operations for success.

We will demonstrate the potential benefits of Lean Manufacturing on your plant floor at this interactive seminar. Learn the principles of Lean and apply them in a hands-on factory simulation. This workshop combines lecture and a hands-on factory simulation to explain the principles and tools of Lean Manufacturing.

Participants will be introduced to the concept of change as a positive force.

The simulation demonstrates and compares:
  • Traditional plant layout
  • Cellular plant layout
  • One piece flow with a pull system
  • Flexible workforce concepts
Topics covered include:
  • The principles of Lean Manufacturing
  • The eight wastes and Lean tools
  • The results of implementing Lean
  • How to develop a road map for implementation
The benefits of Lean Manufacturing:
  • Improvements in lead-time, delivery, quality, & cost metrics
Course Information:
  • Length of course: 4 hours
  • Audience: Equally accessible to senior management, office staff and the full labor force, the Lean Awareness Workshop provides everyone with a common understanding of how Lean principles can be used to dramatically improve manufacturing operations.
